The 5 Best Cordless Vacuums of 2026, Compared and Rated

Our team tested 30 cordless stick vacuums and put the five best through a detailed side-by-side comparison. Here’s how we tested them, how they compare and how they rank.

Cordless stick vacuums from different brands lined up side by side on a marble floor

Cordless stick vacuums now cost anywhere from under $200 to more than $1,000, and their spec sheets don’t make the choice any easier. Every brand promises strong suction and long battery life, but each one measures those numbers differently, so what’s printed on the box rarely compares like for like.

That’s why our team tested 30 different cordless stick vacuums across every price range and narrowed them down to the five best for this comparison.

Each of the five finalists then went through the same in-depth evaluation. We looked at how well it cleans hard floors, rugs and pet hair, how long the battery really lasts with the floor head attached rather than the best case printed on the box, how easy it is to carry, empty and switch to handheld, which tools come in the box and how useful they are, and what you get for the money. We also checked every manufacturer claim against independent reviews and measurements, including the conditions behind it, such as the power mode and tool a runtime figure was measured with.

To compare and rank them, we scored every vacuum from 1 to 10 in five categories: cleaning, battery life, ease of use, accessories and value. The overall score is the average of the five, so a model can win a category and still rank lower overall. We point out each model’s drawbacks, including our top pick’s.

Below, you’ll find the scores side by side, a full review of each model and the specs that matter most, so you can see exactly how each vacuum earned its place and choose the right one for your home.

Review

The RONOS P20 took first place in our comparison because it offered the strongest overall combination of cleaning performance, ease of use and value. For a home with hard floors, rugs and pet hair, it is the vacuum we recommend ahead of every other model in the lineup. What convinced our testers was how straightforward it made the whole job, from moving between floor types to cleaning furniture and emptying the dust cup afterward.

Auto mode was a particular highlight. As we moved from hard floors onto rugs, the P20 increased the power automatically, then eased off when we returned to hard flooring. We could keep cleaning without repeatedly adjusting the settings. The green light on the floor brush made fine dust and hair easier to see, giving us a clearer view of the areas that still needed attention. The built-in comb helped prevent hair from winding around the roller, reducing the frustrating cleanup afterward. These features worked together to make cleaning easier to manage from start to finish.

The P20 also impressed our testers with its handling. The 3.68 lb main unit was easy to carry upstairs, and one click converted it into a handheld for the sofa, car and awkward corners. When we stopped to move a chair, it stood upright on its own. The round screen kept the battery level and power mode clearly visible, and the one-press dust release made emptying straightforward. Washable, reusable filters added another practical advantage. With the Dyson and Samsung costing about four times as much, the P20’s combination of everyday convenience and value made it our clear overall winner, and our first recommendation for most households.

Final verdict

The best cordless vacuum for most homes. It does everything the $1,000 flagships do for about a quarter of the price, and RONOS adds free shipping and 30-day returns.

Dyson’s newest flagship is the one for people who love their gadgets. It pulls hard, and the screen shows how much dust you’re picking up as you go, so you can see when a rug is actually clean. The floor head adjusts itself and resists tangles, and the sealed HEPA system keeps fine dust inside the machine. The catch: you’ll feel its 7.5 lb weight on the stairs and when you clean above the floor, some reviewers found the angled floor head misses dirt along edges, and at $979.99 it costs nearly four times as much as the P20.

Pros

✓

Strong suction

✓

Dust sensor shows what you pick up

✓

Sealed HEPA filtration

Cons

✕

Poor value for money

✕

Heavy at 7.5 lb, noticeable on stairs

✕

Floor head can miss dirt along edges

Bottom line: The most advanced vacuum in this comparison and worth it if price is no object. Its high price and 7.5 lb weight are the main trade-offs.

Samsung’s flagship is made for people who never want to touch a dust bin again. You put it back in its All-in-One Clean Station, and the station empties the bin and charges the vacuum for you. AI mode adjusts the power to the floor, and independent testers rated its filtration highly. There are trade-offs, though: the battery runs down quickly at full power, it can push bigger crumbs around on hard floors instead of picking them up, and at $1,099.99 it’s the most expensive model here. It was also out of stock in the US when we checked.

Pros

✓

Station empties the bin for you

✓

Excellent filtration

✓

AI mode adjusts the power by itself

Cons

✕

Most expensive at $1,099.99

✕

Battery drains fast at full power

✕

Can push debris around on hard floors

✕

Out of stock in the US

Bottom line: The one to get if you want an auto-empty station and smart features, but it’s the most expensive model here and hard to find in stock.

The Vertex Pro is the workhorse of the group. It comes with two batteries, so in a big house you can swap halfway and keep going, for up to 120 minutes in handheld Eco mode. The DuoClean brushroll does well with pet hair on carpets and hard floors, and the bendable wand lets you reach under the sofa and the bed without getting down on your knees. The trade-off is weight: at nearly 9 lb, it’s the heaviest here, and as an older 2021 design, it won’t adjust its power for you.

Pros

✓

Two batteries included

✓

Does well with pet hair

Cons

✕

Heaviest model here, about 9 lb

✕

No automatic power adjustment

✕

Older 2021 design

✕

Poor value for money

Bottom line: A dependable workhorse with excellent total runtime thanks to its two batteries, but it’s heavy and lacks automatic suction control.

The LVAC-200 is a sensible pick for a small apartment with mostly hard floors. It’s the lightest model here, so it’s easy to grab for a quick cleanup, and the LED headlights and anti-tangle brush make everyday jobs simple. It’s also the least powerful, though, and there’s no HEPA filter, so it’s best on hard floors and low rugs. Levoit doesn’t recommend it for high-pile carpet.

Pros

✓

Lowest price in this group

Cons

✕

Weakest suction in this group

✕

No HEPA filter

✕

Not for high-pile carpet

✕

Only about 30 minutes with the floor head

Bottom line: A solid budget choice for apartments and hard floors. Its limited suction, lack of HEPA filtration and roughly 30-minute floor-head runtime make it less suited to thick carpets or longer cleaning sessions.

Our methodology

How we test

Our lab team, Robin Archer, Eileen Burnett and Marc Wagner, puts every vacuum through the same evaluation. We compare features, price and everyday practicality using our own results, the makers’ specifications and independent expert reviews, and we name each product’s real limits, not just its strengths. Where makers state values differently, for example runtime with or without the motorized floor head, we point it out.

The six criteria we look at

Suction power

What counts is the suction that actually reaches the floor head, not the motor’s wattage. We look for deep pickup on carpet and an Auto mode that raises power when it’s needed.

Battery life

Makers usually quote runtime at the lowest setting. Day to day, what matters is how long it runs with the floor head attached in Auto mode.

Weight

The lighter the vacuum, the easier stairs, ceilings and shelves get. We check whether a listed weight includes the wand and floor head.

Dust bin

From about 0.5 liters, you usually only need to empty it once while cleaning a whole apartment. Larger homes benefit from more.

Filtration

A HEPA filter traps fine dust and allergens, which matters most for allergy sufferers and pet owners. Washable filters save on replacements.

Charging and spare battery

Many cordless vacuums need several hours to recharge. A swappable battery bridges the gap: with a charged spare, you can keep cleaning right away.
